Whether it is the leaves changing colour or the frost on the grass in the mornings, the fall affords us some of the most beautiful moments in nature. Possibly the most magnificent is bearing witness to curlers from around the area come out of their summer hibernation, unearth their curling gear, and make their migration back to Dundas Valley G&CC and its five sheets of ice they call home.
Perhaps the reason that introduction was so ridiculous is that we’re still coming down from the high that the previous season left us on. Friday Night Curling, with it’s fun new “pick up” style format, had a huge leap in participation and hosted a variety of fantastic musical shows which entertained us all well into the night. Not to be outdone, our new initiatives, the one-of-a-kind Combine Spiel, Saturday Dinner League, and Olympic Membership were tremendously successful and helped usher 150 rookie curlers through our facility and gave them a taste what the curling life at Dundas Valley is like (in case you’re wondering: It’s pretty great).
While other clubs may be content with that level of success, we are going to carry this momentum into this season and build on our success to further enrich our members’ experience. We recognize that membership satisfaction is derived from beyond the game itself, which is why we are committed to providing all members an enhanced curling experience.
Stronger communication is a big part of our season and long term goals. While we witnessed the curling members’ website get a lot of use last season, the quality and flexibility of the site didn’t live up to our expectations. So, as you can clearly see, it’s been redesigned and re-launched it to be even better! We have also officially branched out into the social media world with a Dundas Valley Curling Facebook (facebook.com/DVCurling) and Twitter account (twitter.com/DVCurling). We encourage you to Bookmark, Like and Follow us on each so that you can receive the most up to date information on club events.
Your experience will only get better when you include your friends! Whether you’d like to bring them out to simply enjoy the music on Friday nights or to experience curling for the first time at any of our Saturday Dinner League dates, they are of course more than welcome to enjoy the fun. Of course should they decide to become a member themselves, we’ll help you celebrate with a small dinner voucher and a complementary bottle of wine.
We’ve been working hard all summer to ensure that this season is even better than the last. Membership information is available through the club, as well as with our Curling Coordinator, Todd Maslin (curling@dundasvalleygolf.com).
See you at the Open House on September 24th at 7pm!
