Congratulations to our Dundas Valley Curling representatives at this year’s OCA Travelers Club Championships. This is an annual event that takes the highest ranked Men’s and Women’s teams from each club to see which team is the best in the area. The tournament eventually culminates at the National Championship in Halifax at the end of November.
Our representatives are always selected from the Wed/Thurs Open League and this year they were:
Women’s: Marlyn Gardiner-Dean, Karen Marcinkowski, Jan Olson, and Anita Finlayson
Men’s: Kris Blonski, Russ Gray, Peter Kastrau, and Pete Child
Our women’s team played a couple of hard fought back and forth games but unfortunately weren’t able to reach the playoffs before eventually succumbing to last year’s provincial champion from Burlington Curling Club.
Our men’s team opted to take the hard road by losing the first game but were able to bounce back and string together three straight wins to qualify for the playoffs. After another win in the semi-finals they faced last years provincial champions from the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club in the finals where they ultimately lost, in a last rock decision, 7-5.
Great job to both our teams for proudly representing Dundas Valley Curling!
