READ THIS (IT’S IMPORTANT):
Teams / Schedules:
Well, I asked and you delivered: We are currently sitting at 31 teams this season with a potential of 3 more teams on top of that. Additionally, we do have a couple of individuals who are looking to play, so if you’re in need of an additional player (or maybe a 5th) let me know and I will send you their contact information.
As always, teams will be seeded into the league based roughly on last year regular season and playoff results. Teams completely new to the league, or returning teams with 2 or fewer returning players from last season (ie. A team that splits into two teams of 2 players are both considered to be “new” teams, regardless of where their new teammates come from) are considered “new” and will be started in C Flyte regardless of skill level. It’s nothing personal, I promise!
Open League curling starts October 11th and 12th this year. Schedules will be posted sometime during the weekend prior to allow for any of the last minute teams to enter. Once posted please check your schedule often prior to game time in case of any emergency adjustments.
Please note that should we end up with 32 or more teams this season, we will be expanding the league to also include Thursday @ 9:00PM games.
Rule Changes / Format Changes:
With 31+ teams comes another slight adjustment to the league to accommodate the influx of teams. You’ll notice in the explanation below that if we have 33 teams, we could technically run both formats.
28 to 33 teams:
- A Flyte will have a single division. B and C Flytes will both have two divisions.
- At the end of each Series:
- Bottom 2 teams from A Flyte will move to B Flyte (2 total)
- Top 1 teams from each B Flyte Division will move to A Flyte (2 total)
- Bottom 2 teams from each B Flyte Division will move to C Flyte (4 total)
- Top 2 teams from each C Flyte Division will move to B Flyte (4 total)
33 to 36 teams:
- A, B, and C Flytes will all have two divisions
- At the end of each Series:
- Bottom 2 teams from each A Flyte Division will move to B Flyte (4 total)
- Top 2 teams from each B Flyte Division will move to A Flyte (4 total)
- Bottom 2 teams from each B Flyte Division will move to C Flyte (4 total)
- Top 2 teams from each C Flyte Division will move to B Flyte (4 total)
Rules have been updated for clarity as well as to accommodate the increased sized of the league. As always, new and veteran players alike, I recommend everyone take a quick look at the rules prior to the start of the season!
